About

Ryan Suffern has worked on films of all kinds over the past decade, starting with the independent film community in Chicago, and later, serving as an assistant to Steven Spielberg. Ryan has worn many different hats as a filmmaker, be it writer, director, producer or editor, and in 2006, he began his own production company, Suckatash Productions.

In addition to serving as his on-set assistant, Ryan's documented the filming of four recent Spielberg movies, and he's written a feature screenplay on assignment for DreamWorks. Ryan has also produced and directed music videos for V2 Records and Universal Music, as well as webseries for Paramount Pictures, Strike.tv, Beggar's Banquet and the Independent Comedy Network.

Ryan recently edited the documentary, Right To Play, which Frank Marshall directed for ESPN Films, and he's in the midst of finishing off another film for Gage & Gage Productions called Bidder 70.

Before taking the filmmaking plunge, Ryan’s first creative love was photography.  As a concert photographer, he’s had the privilege of shooting some of the biggest names in the music industry. Presently, Ryan’s been scratching the photo itch by collaborating with his talented wife, Kim Garr, on her food blog, C’est La Vegan.

An English major from the University of Illinois, Ryan currently lives in Los Angeles.
