The Amazing Pilots pt.2
Meeting up with The Pilots for those first two SXSW’s was so much fun, and both years there, we spent at least a day traveling around the town in search of a great backdrop to take some publicity stills. While I don’t think it would have been possible to find a location as dynamic as the one we stumbled upon during our first year at the fest, that certainly didn’t keep us from trying. And the second time around, we found this random junkyard.
The thing about The Amazing Pilots is, these brothers are some of the funniest guys I know. Always quick with a sarcastic reply, an absurd observation or a bit of physical comedy; they’re truly a blast to hang out with. Yet nearly every time I turned the camera onto them, the smiles went away, replaced by the stern and serious. So it was quite refreshing and a lot of fun to finally get them to open up a bit at this junkyard shoot.

Iain Archer pt.1
When I was sorting through my SXSW pics a few weeks back, I stumbled upon a couple shots of Iain Archer that never saw the light of day. The one above is a candid pic that I grabbed while hanging out at the Driskill Hotel in ‘06. There’s something about this photo that I really dig; feels like it’s straight out of Esquire Magazine or something.

Omar Little
Introducing the newest member of the Garr/Suffern clan…Omar Little Suffern! His namesake is one of the greatest characters of all time, and our favorite – Omar Little – from the show The Wire. We adopted this little guy from the good folks at Wild and Tame, It’s All the Same, who rescued Omar from a kill shelter on the day he was supposed to have been exterminated. Apparently, he’s about a year old and is a mix of daschund, doxie and chihuahua, thus his “little” frame. We’ve had Omar for a few days now, and we’re absolutely in love with him (though I think our cat, Maya, is probably gonna need just a bit more time to adjust).

My grandpa would have been 90 today. I so miss him, and I can only imagine what the world will look like if I’m lucky enough to live so long…

Captain Jack Beero
My first short film to feature actors talking in front of the camera, Warthog is a post apocalyptic satire that we eventually licensed to the Independent Comedy Network as a 5-part webseries.

It’s THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT, but for the three executives of Warthog Inc., it’s business as usual. They’re the only ones who show up for work Monday morning while the rest of the office, indeed, the rest of the world, has stayed at home. Instead of sitting around waiting for the final end, these three start dealing with the crisis the only way they know how…Increasing market share.

If it weren’t for these boys, I probably would have never discovered SXSW. The Amazing Pilots looking serious in an Austin junkyard in ‘05.
